The Care Center at Canyon Lakes is part of a planned development of mixed use living adjacent to a golf course. It is a 53 bed skilled nursing facility that replaced an older facility in Pasco. Located on a sloped site that was professionally landscaped it allowsresident rooms to take advantage of the views across a natural ravine. Major service functions are housed to the south of the resident wing with a delivery driveway providing access from the service road. Outdoor areas for resident use are emphasized by the floor plan, with a covered patio located adjacent to dining and activity areas. Physical, occupational and speech therapy are included, as are every resident and staffsupport service needed to provide an optimum level of nursing care. ADA, HUD, WAC, building code, zoningordinance and covenant regulations were complied with as each was evaluated forits influence on design decisions.
