PHYSICAL THERAPY CLINIC

Ellensburg, WA

This new 7,000 square foot Physical Therapy Clinic and Therapy Pool facility occupies a very visible corner in Ellensburg, less than two blocks from the KVCH hospital in Ellensburg.

Community demand for increased physical therapy services demanded that KVCH grow from an existing, congested 1600 SF location at the hospital, into this new building to an offer comprehensive physical therapy service environment. Traho designed an attractive building with cheerful colors and high ceilings, including a large gymnasium with ample space for exercise equipment and considerable interior and daylight views.

Programs offered include:

  • Orthopedic,Sports, and Warm Water Aquatic Therapy
  • Injured Worker Rehabilitation
  • Aquatic and Land-Based Wellness Group Activities
  • On Site Orthotics Assessment and Fabrication
  • Women's Programs

The open sided corridor between the private rooms and the gymnasium combines storage for small equipment with staff areas for charting and easy visual monitoring of both the gym and individual therapy rooms.

The interior Therapy Pool has become a very popular community asset. The KVCH Out-Patient Physical Therapy Facility was reviewed by DOH/CRS and DOW Water Recreational Facilities. The Popularity of the pool inspired the expansion of the women's dressing room into what was initially the conference room.

Special architectural and mechanical design attention was given to the pool enclosure and the pool area mechanical ventilation equipment. With a therapy pool heated to 92 degrees, the amount of condensation and heat loss resulted in the inclusion of an automatic pool cover which offers optimum energy efficiency while keeping the water temperature consistent.
